“20 Best Blogs in Instructional Technology”

by Tim Handorf
Technology, when applied creatively and effectively, punches up lessons for students of all ages and abilities. In the hands of a savvy enough teacher, gadgets and digital services alike can increase their engagement and better encourage learning and retention. Obviously, the Internet serves as an excellent hub for educators worldwide to meet up and exchange ideas, insights and opinions regarding strategies, emerging technologies and every other relevant topic out there. Instructional technology blogs are exceptionally common, with far, far more than these 20 contributing something valuable to the discussion. Use them as starting points before branching out and discovering what other professionals have to offer.

A Message from Joyce Roche’, Chair of the Dillard University Presidential Search Committee Search Update

July 13, 2011

Dear Dillard Community:

The following is an update on our Presidential Search.

Isaacson Miller, our search firm, has covered considerable ground over the past few months in broadcasting the opportunity, networking and screening prospective candidates. They have reached out to a broad group of Presidents, Provosts and some Deans at colleges and universities across the country to develop a diverse pool of candidates. They are also seeking out candidates with non-traditional backgrounds and experience in Higher Education. That being said, they have many more sources to tap and potential candidates to assess in more detail.

The search firm has indicated that the market feedback to our opportunity has been very positive and that people have a great deal of respect for Dillard’s history and reputation. The Search Committee had a meeting with the firm last week to review the first group of potential candidates to discuss which sets of experiences we found most compelling and to guide the firm’s continued networking and candidate assessments. We were very pleased with this initial group and the firm has advised us that the pool will continue to grow and deepen over the next few months.

I want to assure you that the search process is on schedule and we are confident that we will find the right person to serve as Dillard’s next President.

Sincerely,

Joyce M. Rochѐ

Chair, Presidential Search Committee
