Dillard University Student Research Support Workshop: Research Analysis Techniques Using SPSS

The Office of Undergraduate Research is sponsoring a entitled “Research Analysis Techniques Using SPSS”. This workshop will focus on topics, tools, and techniques that can be used by students to enhance their ability to analyze research data.


Four consecutive sessions will be held, each covering specific topics. To maximize the benefits offered by this workshop, participants are encouraged to attend all sessions. Registration is free!


• Types of Data and Data Collection Techniques
• Fundamental Applications (Descriptive Statistics)
• Regression and ANOVA Using SPSS
• Application. This session will enable participants to use SPSS in examining their own research problem and data.


Workshops will be facilitated by Dr. Hong Dai, Mathematics, STEM and Dr. Willie Kirkland, Institutional Research Political Science, ALSS.


Students in all majors are encouraged to attend. The workshop will be of special interest to students who are currently engaged in research projects in the classroom, or are working on an independent research project under the guidance of faculty mentors. Students working with faculty mentors or participating in the LAMP/GALA and Undergraduate Research and Creative Works Competitions in April 2008 are especially encouraged to attend. Faculty and staff are also welcome. Seating will be on a first-come basis.

Registration Information:
There is no fee for this workshop. Early registration is advised as enrollment is limited to 30. At-the-door registration is not guaranteed. A Registration Form is attached. Please indicate which section(s) you plan to attend.


Cancellation Policy:
Space is limited. In order to accommodate as many interested individuals as possible, if you are unable to attend a session, please notify the Undergraduate Research Office one day prior to November 16.
