Dillard University Spring 2012 Assessment Dates of Importance

SPRING 2012


· Assessment Days
o February 14-16: Senior/capstone courses scheduled on these days will be asked to use one of the dates to administer the CLA (which will be facilitated by the OIEA). Faculty are asked to identify the CLA assessment date (see attachment) and include this assessment date in the syllabus as a class period IN the computer lab.
o February 28-29: The OIEA will collaborate with CFYE to schedule all courses for participation in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Faculty are asked to include NSSE as one of its extra credit options.
o April 11: This date is reserved for all seniors and freshmen who did not participate in NSSE or CLA.


· Faculty Survey of Student Engagement (FSSE) is scheduled for the month of March.


· Student Instruction Report (SIR II): The student evaluation of faculty process is scheduled for April 2 – 6. Students will be asked to go to the computer lab to complete the evaluations. Faculty are asked to identify the assessment date (see attachment) and incorporate the date into their syllabi as a class session IN a lab. Expect more details and instructions at the beginning of the spring semester.


FALL 2011
· Institutional Effectiveness Reports Were Due by December 13. Every academic, administrative and educational support unit is required to submit a report. The following were due (along w/all documentation):
o Academic Units
§ 2009-10 assessment grid, curriculum mapping grid and narrative report
§ 2010-11 assessment grid, curriculum mapping grid and narrative report
§ Fall 2011 assessment grid
o Administrative/Educational Support Units
§ 2009-10 assessment grid, curriculum mapping grid and narrative report
§ 2010-11 assessment grid, curriculum mapping grid and narrative report


· Fall 2011 Student Instructional Report (SIR II) Forms. Beginning next semester (Spring 2012), all courses will be evaluated via an online process. See more details in the “SIR II” section below.


More than 4000 SIR II forms and more than 1000 written comments were processed for Fall 2011. Reports should arrive in January. Spring 2011 reports arrived today and will also become available in January.


FACULTY “TO DO” ITEMS
JANUARY 17 Senior/capstone course faculty should identify a date to administer the CLA.
CFYE faculty should identify a date to administer NSSE and include the survey in the course’s extra credit options.
ALL faculty must identify a date to administer the online SIR II.
