Auburn University announces the Global Perspectives on College and University Teaching Symposium to be held at the Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center. The Symposium will occur over three days (April 7-9, 2013) and include a combination of workshops, plenaries, panel presentations, concurrent and poster sessions, and roundtable discussions. Ben Wildavsky, author of The Great Brain Race, will be the plenary speaker. A number of presidents/rectors of international universities will participate in panel and follow-up breakout discussions on current and future higher education issues in their home institutions and nations and meet with Symposium participants.
CALL FOR PAPERS
What we call college and university teaching exists in myriad multidimensional forms throughout the world, but we all strive to educate students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values necessary to be productive members of their respective societies. The globalization of higher education, however, has created universities where national boundaries are irrelevant and where the movement of students, teachers, ideas, and instructional methods cross physical, cultural, and pedagogical barriers. Our Symposium hopes to address the impacts of globalization on teaching and learning, and will offer a series of plenaries, panel presentations, concurrent and poster sessions, roundtable discussions, and social activities to provide participants opportunities to share, learn, and network with other teachers, students, scholars, and academic leaders from around the world.
It is expected that the Symposium will draw an international audience of college and university teachers, graduate students, faculty developers, and academic leaders. Conference presentation proposal submission and registration forms, as well as additional Symposium information, can be found at: http://wp.auburn.edu/biggio/symposium2013/
