Dillard University will host its opening activities for the 85th Annual National Black History Celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011. Following greetings by Dillard President Dr. Marvalene Hughes, the Dillard University Concert Choir, under the direction of S. Carver Davenport, will perform. Dr. Alan Colón, Dillard’s National Endowment for the Humanities Eminent Scholar in African World Studies, will deliver the keynote address, “Celebrating Black History: Past, Present and Future.” A dialogue between the audience and a panel of students will follow.
