University Business: University Officials Say They Need Feedback To Assess Teacher Preparation
http://www.universitybusiness.com/news/university-officials-say-they-need-feedback-assess-teacher-preparation
How well do the state's universities prepare future teachers? Central Connecticut State University professors and administrators said Monday it would help to have some evidence on how their graduates go on to perform in the classroom.
"We really have a dearth of data... Right now there is no feedback," Professor Nancy Hoffman told Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor, who visited the state university Monday as part of his continuing listening tour, accompanied by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.
CCSU educators also talked with Pryor and Malloy about how to attract more of the best students into the teaching profession.
But Pryor and Malloy seemed particularly interested in the need for data on how well graduates of the state's teaching programs perform.
