This is the fourth year that NBC’s the Grio.com has recognized African American industry leaders who are making a difference in the lives of others in their communities and beyond. Honorees are selected from various categories including activism, arts, business, education, health, media, politics, science and technology, pop culture and sports. Kimbrough is the only university president recognized.

Dillard University

2601 Gentilly Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70122
Dillard University is located in New Orleans, Louisiana, right next to the historic Gentilly Boulevard. While this historically black college was almost completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, intensive rebuilding efforts have reopened the university. The university received an endowment from Ray Charles, and continues to offer degrees in business, the social sciences, humanities, and in nursing.
